Cox's Bazar Sadar (Bengali: কক্সবাজার সদর) is an Upazila of Cox's Bazar District in the Division of Chittagong, Bangladesh. Cox's Bazar (City) Cox Bazar municipality was founded in 1869 and has grown into a committee of the city in 1959. The city commission was again replaced by the municipality in 1972 and was elevated to the rank B in 1989. The municipality has an area of 6.85 square kilometers with 27 rooms and 9 mahallas, population 60,234, 57.09% men and 42.91% women.
The literacy rate among the town people is 52.2%. Cox's Bazar is a major tourist destination have multiple locations in the city, including six major hotels, 30 medium-sized hotels, 50 hotels semi-medium Jhinuk market for tourists and Burmese market trade in luxury goods developed Burma, Thailand and China.
