Madaripur(মাদারীপুর) is a district in central Bangladesh. It is a part of the Division of Dhaka.
Madaripur Branch was established in 1854 under the Bakerganj district. In 1873 he separated from Bakerganj and annexed to the district of Faridpur. Madaripur Branch became a district in 1984. Madaripur district is named after the Sufi saint Shah Badr go swimming. It was one of the Sufi saints who came from Bangladesh to some Middle Eastern country in the 15th century to spread Islam in Bengal. Madar Shah Dargah or tomb on the river Arial Kha is visited every year by countless people the blessings of the saint.
The total population of 1137008, including: men 50.29% and 49.71% female. The religion of most people is Islam, but there are a number of Hindus. The specifications are: Muslim 85.67%, 13.72% Hindus and others 0.61%. 2844 mosques, 53 temples and churches 5.
