Rangpur(রংপুর) is a district in northern Bangladesh. It is a part of the Division of Rangpur.
Among Rangpur division consists of eight districts in northern Bangladesh, Rangpur District is bordered on the north by Nilphamari District on the south by the District Gaibandha, Kurigram in the east and west by Dinajpur district. Rangpur town is the headquarters of the division.
The total population is 2534365 Rangpur, men 50.92%, 49.08% women. Islam is the dominant religion in Rangpur. Hinduism is the second largest religion in Rangpur. 89.60% Muslim, Hindu, 9.59%, 0.50% and other Christian 0.31%, ethnic nationals: Santal and Orao. Among Muslims, the percentage of the Salafis are a little higher than most districts of Bangladesh.
A museum and a training center for women established in Pairabondh, the birthplace of the famous Begum Rokeya. This is a half hour drive from the city of Rangpur. In addition Tajbari museum is a museum in the heart of the city.
