Panchagarh(পঞ্চগড়) is a district of Rangpur division in the far northern Bangladesh, with an area of 1,404.63 square kilometers, surrounded on three sides by 288 km long border with India, Darjeeling district in the north, and the districts of Jalpaiguri district Kuchbihar the northeast, West Dinajpur and Purnea in the west, Dinajpur and Thakurgaon districts in the southern district, Nilphamari in the east. The soil was sandy, alluvial and bears a close affinity to the bottom of the basin of the Himalayas old.
The main crops: rice, jute, wheat, potatoes, sugarcane and tea. Nearly extinct crops are barley, rice and Kaun Aus. Main fruits: Jackfruit, mango, lychee, banana, blackberry, papaya, guava, coconut and betel nut.
829,374 population, men 50.83%, women 49.17%, 81.79% of Muslims, Hindus 17.64%, 0.24% Christian, ethnic group, 0.21%, others 0.12 %, ethnic nationals: 138 Santal, 45 Uriah and 155 other families.
