Barisal Sadar (Bengali: বরিশাল সদর) is an Upazila of Barisal District in the Division of Barisal, Bangladesh. Barisal (Town) consists of 30 wards and 50 mahallas. The city area is 16.37 km ². Barisal municipality was created in 1957 and became a corporation of the city in 2000. It has a population of 202,242, 53.28% male, 46.72% female. Literacy rate among the town people is 65%. The city has three dakbungalows.
