Teknaf (Bengali: টেকনাফ Ṭeknaf) is an Upazila of Cox's Bazar District in the Division of Chittagong, Bangladesh. It is the southernmost point in mainland Bangladesh (St. Martin's Island is the southernmost point). The name of the region comes from the Naf river that the eastern boundary of the upazila forms. Teknaf (Town) consists of 9 wards and mahallas 9. The city area is 31.53 square km, population 18,951, 53.43% men and 46.57% women.
The population density is 601 inhabitants per square kilometer. The literacy rate among the town people is 27.2%. The city has two dakbungalows. Religious institutions Mosque 183, July temple, Buddhist Keyang 11. Notable institutions: Teknaf Bara Mosque, Jami Aliyabad, Teknaf Vishnu Mandir, Teknaf Buddha Vihara Buddha Chowdhuripara-vihara (Qila).
