Jhalakati Sadar (Bengali: ঝালকাঠি সদর) is an Upazila of Jhalokati District in the Division of Barisal, Bangladesh. Jhalokati (Town) a municipal (1875) of the city consists of 9 wards and 47 mahallas. The area of the town was 6.37 km ². The city has a population of 45,095 men and women 53.11% 46.89%, the population density is 7,079 inhabitants per square kilometer. Literacy rate among the town people is 67.5%.
The city has two dakbungalows. Literacy literacy and secondary education institutions 54.4%, men 59% and women 49.6%. University educational institutions: 7, high school 54, madrasa 19, government primary school 113, non-government primary school 42. Noted institutions: Baharampur Government Primary School (1905), the Municipal School of Government Model Primary (1902), Bharukathi Government Primary School (1910).
